Psychiatrist
Dr. Joseph Beck
MD
I am engaging and motivating in my approach to help individuals meet their goals. Drawing on my experience in both psychiatry and addiction medicine, I work to create a holistic care plan for each individual. I am well versed in the treatment of all psychiatric disorders and see adult and young adult patients (18+) for initial psychopharmacologic evaluation and ongoing treatment. Families and individuals who work with me appreciate my ability to understand their experience and partner in their growth.
I earned my medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences. During residency, I pursued specialties in both psychiatry and internal medicine at Rush University Medical Center from 2000 to 2005, where I also served as chief resident. This dual specialty appealed to my interest in the mind-body connection and how mental health affects chronic disease and its treatment. I advanced my specialization in the field of psychiatry by completing a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Addiction. I have vast professional experience in multiple settings, having served in leadership roles in both academic and community hospitals. With over 15 years of experience in treating patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings, I have played an integral part in designing behavioral health systems to meet patient and community needs. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. I am also a diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
I am available in person and virtually at the Oak Park location and virtually at all other Mosaic locations.
