Therapy Intern
Jeni Eklund
Clinical Intern
I am passionate about providing compassionate care to help clients feel empowered to navigate their life more intentionally and authentically. I do this by providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore the values, emotions, self-narratives, and cultural and contextual narratives that shape their experience. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and culturally sensitive, ensuring that each individual's unique experiences and identities are respected, valued, and a welcome part of our therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic approach draws from person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness practices, among other approaches.
I’m currently a master's level clinical counseling student at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. Before beginning this journey towards a counseling career, I worked with teens and young adults in spiritual care and formation, and in interfaith community engagement. These roles have given me both a breadth of experience walking alongside young people and older adults in life’s pivotal moments, as well as a profound appreciation for the diverse ways people cultivate resilience, holistic wellbeing, and joy in the midst of uncertainty, transition, and grief.
I currently live in Chicago with my partner and our tiny dog, Doris (who aspires to one day get her therapy certification). I count it an honor and privilege to walk with you on your path to healing, and look forward to hearing your story and witnessing your growth!
