Art Therapist

ATR ,LPC
I am an advocate for trauma-informed, person-centered therapy that emphasizes a holistic approach to healing. As an individual with an intersectional identity who navigates disability, I recognize the necessity for empathy, compassion, and openness. I bring experience as a queer immigrant to understand how nuanced identities impact our lives. My practice as a counselor and art therapist is grounded in both cognitive and somatic techniques, combining talk therapy, movement-based exercise, as well as artistic exploration to celebrate clients’ strengths and unpack their challenges.
I hold a dual Masters Degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received an education in anthropology and psychology at Columbia University. As a counselor, I have worked in community and private practice, engaging in art therapy with children, teens, young adults, and older adults. I carry over ten years of experience working with organizations to support community and individual wellbeing. My work nationally and internationally has taught me that we are connected to our larger networks, and I support clients in exploring how the cultures we embody affect our daily lives.
My artistic portfolio centers around the visual arts, including watercolor, acrylic, oil, and ceramics as a means of discovering what language alone cannot articulate. Additionally, I draw on my background in theatre and my experience as a trained dancer to curate creative treatments for clients. I believe you are the expert of your own experience and would be honored to work alongside you on your mental health journey.
