Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Stephanie Barker
APRN
I began my journey in the healthcare field by pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Upon graduation, I began working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Advocate Christ Hospital. In my 5 years as a direct care nurse, I had the opportunity to work with pediatric patients from birth through young adulthood. This experience gave me the opportunity to gain many of the skills needed to provide holistic care and advocate for individuals experiencing a variety of medical conditions including those related to their mental health.
While working in the PICU, I earned an Advanced Nursing Degree in Pediatrics and am now a proud Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. During my training, I quickly recognized my passion for mental health which provided direction and focus to my advanced studies. I spent multiple clinical rotations working at Mosaic and found a passion for working with this patient population.
I have learned the importance of creating individualized treatment plans and providing comprehensive, patient-centered, psychiatric care in a practice which deeply values collaboration. I am so proud to be a part of the Mosaic team and to have the privilege of providing high quality care for my clients and the community.
